Old-fashioned cocktail recipe


Old-fashioned is a very simple cocktail recipe, but is essential for the cocktail repertoire. For this cocktail, you will learn the simple technique of muddling. Muddling is combining the ingredients in the bottom of a mixing glass, by pressing them with a muddler before adding the majority of the liquid ingredients.


Muddler is an essential cocktail tool made commonly out of wood, but can be made also from stainless steel and plastic. One end of the muddler is large and rounded and is used to mash the ingredients. The other end is skinnier and used to mix the ingredients.








To make the Old-fashioned cocktail you will need about 2 minutes.

Old-fashioned Ingredients:

 

-  1 sugar cube
-  2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
-  2 orange slices
-  3 oz bourbon whiskey
-  Maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:

 

-  Place the sugar cube at the bottom of an old-fashioned glass.
-  Saturate the cube with the bitters.
-  Add one orange slice.
-  Muddle these ingredients.
-  Fill the glass with ice cubes.
-  Add the bourbon.
-  Stir well.
-  Garnish with a second orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
